COMPANY BACKGROUND
Having started its mining activities in 1940s, Dereli Family has been operating in the mining industry for three generations. The first enterprise by the Dereli Family on the Marmara Island was set up in 1940a by Dereli Siblings and Özgür Family from Marmara, supplying dolomite from Saraylar to Şişecam Factories. Dereli Family carries on its Marmara Island operations with the company name of DereliMermer Granit Maden A.Ş. and produces calcite and dolomite on Marmara Island.
Dereli Family, which has been the partner and supplier of IMERYS since 1996, is the main raw material (calcium carbonate) supplier of the European factories of IMERYS.

CSR (CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY)
Dereli attaches importance to human development and environmental interaction. In this context, while providing continuous training to its employees on the occupational safety, environmental awareness and their individual rights, it gives scholarships to female students who are entitled to study at university in the regions where it operates and it repairs municipal roads.

CORPORATE ACTIVITIES
It recycles marble and dolomite residues that are produced during the production in marble and dolomite quarries in Saraylar Town on Marmara Island as micronisecalcite and dolomite raw materials.
Residues suitable for recycling are identified and loaded into ships from the port of Saraylar after crushing, processing, washing and sorting by size. The calcite raw material loaded on ships is shipped to grinding facilities of Imerys in Sweden and Belgium. Marmara calcite, which is subjected to grinding process, is shipped to various countries across Europe for use in the production of paper, cardboard and plastic. The annual production is around 400,000 - 450,000 tons.
